At 37 weeks, an ultrasound revealed Piper had spina bifida. Born with multiple complex health conditions, her first year was marked by lifesaving surgeries — including a spinal closure at just one day old. She's since battled a tethered spinal cord, shunt infection and meningitis that temporarily affected her hearing. Through it all, Sanford Children's Hospital has been her lifeline.

Today at 8, Piper is resilient, witty, and unstoppable — meeting every challenge with fierce determination and hope.
